Privacy policy

Quizd (“Quizd”, “we”) makes product-recommendation quizzes for Shopify stores. This policy explains what we collect when a merchant uses Quizd and when a shopper takes a quiz, why, who it’s shared with, and how to have it deleted. Questions: support@quizd.app.
Merchants (stores that install Quizd)
When a store installs Quizd we receive, through Shopify:
- The store’s name, address on Shopify, web address and the email of the person who signs in.
- Products: titles, images, prices, variants and links, to build quizzes.
- The theme’s colors, fonts and logo, so quizzes match the store.
- Orders: what was bought, totals, the order’s landing page, and the customer’s email. We use these only to tell which orders came from a quiz and to show the merchant their quiz revenue.
We keep an access token for the store so Quizd can do the above. We don’t edit the store’s theme or products.
Shoppers (people who take a quiz)
- Answers to the quiz’s questions and the products it recommended.
- Contact details, only if the quiz asks and the shopper types them: name, email, phone.
- Visit details: device type, the ad or link they came from (for example UTM tags and ad click ids), and pages reached in the quiz.
- A random quiz-session id, stored in the browser and added to the cart or the next page’s link, so a later order can be matched to the quiz.
This information belongs to the merchant whose quiz it is. Quizd processes it for that merchant, to run the quiz, recommend products and report results. We don’t sell it and don’t use it to advertise anything of our own.
Cookies and similar storage
Quizd stores a quiz-session id and an A/B test group in the shopper’s browser, and a sign-in cookie for merchants using Quizd. If a merchant adds their own ad pixels (Meta, TikTok, Google), those load on their quiz pages under the merchant’s own policies.
Who we share it with
- Shopify, which runs the store and checkout.
- Our service providers: Vercel (hosting), Supabase (database, encrypted at rest), and Anthropic (the AI Insights chat, which receives the merchant’s quiz statistics when the merchant asks a question).
- Tools the merchant connects, such as Klaviyo, Slack, a webhook or ad pixels: answers and contact details go there only when the merchant turns that on.
Keeping and deleting data
- We keep data while the store has Quizd installed. When a store uninstalls Quizd, its quizzes go offline; Shopify then asks us to erase the store’s data, and we delete it.
- When Shopify passes on a shopper’s request to erase their data, we remove their contact details and answers.
- Shoppers can ask the merchant, or us at support@quizd.app, to see or delete their information. We’ll respond within 30 days.
Security
Everything travels over HTTPS. Data is stored encrypted at rest, store secrets are encrypted again by Quizd, and only the people who run Quizd can reach the systems that hold it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example the EU, UK or California), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or move your personal information, and to object to how it’s used. Contact us and we’ll help, or pass your request to the merchant whose quiz you took.
Children
Quizd isn’t meant for children under 16, and we don’t knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If this policy changes, we’ll update the date above, and show a notice in Quizd for significant changes.
